The literal meaning of KATHINgad suggests that this is gonna be a real kathin/difficult trek, but it is not the case in reality. This was one of the forts handed over to the Mughals according to the Treaty of Purandar. . The intentions of this watch tower cum fort were to keep a keen eye over the region. Bhor pass was well guarded during the reign of Maharaj SHivaji, with Karnala fort on one side and Tung fort on the other. Tung fort served the purpose well to the warriors of the past as well as the trekkers of today. Many people plan trek of Tung & Tikona together. Trekkers preferably visit Tikona first. From Tikona Peth (village at base of Tikona) one should go towards Kale Colony. From Bramhnoli village we can reach Kevre gaon by launch. From here we reach Tungvadi within 20 minutes. There are multiple routes to reach Tung. One via Lonavala other via Kamshet-Morve.

Not to Miss- Maruti Temple on your way up. Hanuman Mandir after you have started ascending on the steps. Ganesha Mandir at the right side of the enterance. Tung Devi temple is visible from the citadel. Opposite to it is a cave in ground. Here two or three people can be accommodated.
