It is not a very long trek. Maximum time it may take to reach the top from Peth-Shahapur is about an hour. Great warrior Shivaji Maharaj has many feathers of bravery in his cap. It is not an uncommon fact to know that Maharaj was cunning and smart, Many of his forts are well placed on trade routes and escape routes to most of them are yet undiscovered. Korigad fort had its beauty once when it was in its full colors. Today it is but remains of the glories of the past. The route to the top is beautiful and you will see why it had a location importance. The route between Mumbai and Pune used to be what we now know as the Old Mumbai Pune highway NH-4. But there was another route which had to bet at guard all the time and so was Korigad fort loaded with war cannons and was a military stopover for the solders mid journey.

Not to Miss-Sweet water tanks/lakes in the fort, these are usually filled except during peak summers. There is a temple which you do not want to miss, the temple belongs to the goddess Korai devi. Six Bombard Cannons - These are the old cannons which used to be used during the early ages in Wars. The fort is not very well preserved but the outer walls are still intact and one can have a walk round the same. Scenic views all through the trek
