Karnala fort trek is one of the easiest treks around Mumbai. Not as simple as taking a stroll along the beach, but covered around by a bird sanctuary it’s a very peaceful trek up to the fort through the dense forest. Apart from the scenic beauty this trek offers, there is also a strategic location benefit to the same.

For years Karanala fort served as a watch tower route to the trade route via Bhor pass which connected the Konkan coast to the interiors of Maharashtra. One of the reasons this is considered as an easy trek is a well defined route to the top. There are 2 main routes to the top and you will find the route map printed on a sign board before you start the journey. At the base of the mountain there are a couple of enclosures filled with beautiful birds, something you do not see everyday staying in busy cities. If you are new to the world of trekking or just want to spend an easy day in the woods, Karnala Trek is something you should opt for.

Not to Miss- Bird Sanctuary at the base, View of Kalavantin Durg and Prabalgad from the top
