The first time we did this trek; there were only 2 of us. The initial walk was pretty easy, with a broad, well-defined trail, though we did not expect the walk to take surprising turns. On our way up we happened to get distracted by the noise of running water and ended up changing our course to see this lovely waterfall. There is a small village which splits Kalavantin Durg and Prabalgad where we usually have our snacks and lunch. Soon enough, it got a lot steeper and denser, but it was still remained a manageable trek. The light was drizzle cool with gave us some support, at least that was what we were feeling till we reached the steep climb. With high spirits we ascended on the steep steps, realizing later that the winds were above 50kms/hr and trying to throw us away. All we had to hold on were slippery stones and broken trails in the rocks. There is a small rock patch just before you reach the top about 25ft high which is again a very interesting climb.
Since then I have been to Kalavantin Durg couple of times, it is a moderately difficult trek but remains one of our favorite trek.

Not to Miss- Waterfall in the Monsoons, Fresh Tea at the village, view of Peth, Karnala, HajiMalang and Matheran from the top. There are a couple of caves on the way.
