The land here is so barren and the passes so high that only the best of friends or worst of enemies would want to visit us …

The Indian Army

We are proud to be Indian and nothing describes Ladakh better than the caption above, and to all those travellers who have never been here… this is nothing but a glimpse of heaven if there be any… you will never want this tour to be over. It’s said that it’s the journey that matters and not the destination but when the destination is Ladakh you will never figure out the difference. Try the Srinagar-Leh Highway on the way to Ladakh where the scenery transforms from lush green mountains to the bald mountain passes as you enter Ladakh from Kargil&Drass- one of the coldest regions in the world with winter temperature at -57 0 C. The uninhabitable conditions and smiling faces are two things which will make you ponder in life, you can have less in life and still be content. “Juley” the word describes it all, from welcome to thank you.

The India Armed Forces museum which details the history of the Kargil and Indo Pak wars are detailed here with letters written by our jawans to their families back home and they will bring you tears. Visit the Shanti Stup, the Stok Palace the majestic Thiksey and Hemis Monastery especially during the Hemis Festival or Sindhu Festival or during KargilDiwas which are always a special time to take this trip.

Climb the mountains not so the world can see you, but so you can see the world…

Ladakh is the Land of the Passes – The Zoji-La, Chang-La and the daredevil Khardung-La Pass, the highest motorable rode are places where you will ride with your head in the heaven and feet in snow. Enjoy the Maggi and Kawa Chai here at the highest canteen in the world, as you start the journey towards the world’s most beautiful places – Hunder and Diksit where your tents are set up in organic farms by your side, river flowing by your head, the desert sand and double humped camels kissing your feet with the starry sky above your head… there is no heaven than thee, me say!

We all know PhunsukWangdu and he introduced a lot of us to Ladakh – hit the road to Pangong Tso a lake that will enchant you, will breathe within you for ever. If you have the time, we do suggest a tour of Alchi with its small handicrafts shops to get something back home. We do suggest the Likir and the Spituk Monastery too as we are big fans of prayer wheels and prayer flags and the teachings of Buddhism.

We are definitely also recommending a heart stopping trip of Zanskar River Rafting… This is a must do and this is one trip which will make you say… Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it ! ! !
